Importing a RIS File

Many web-based resources let you export bibliographic information in RIS format. When you perform the export, one or more references will be exported to a text file with the .ris extension.

Citavi can import and export bibliographic information in RIS format. The text file contains tags consisting of a two-letter field code, two spaces, a hyphen, and one space followed by the contents of the fields. A typical RIS entry looks like this:

TY  - BOOK

SN  - 97838309 16895

AU  - Handke, Jürgen

AU  - Franke, Peter

T1  - The virtual linguistics campus

T2  - Strategies and concepts for successful e-learning

PY  - 2006

CY  - Münster

PB  - Waxmann

KW  - E-Learning
