Creating a New Citation Style
When you create a new style, Citavi saves it in the folder Documents\Citavi 5\Custom Citation Styles. You can give this style to other Citavi users, who can also save it in their Custom Citation Styles folder.
- Open a project, preferably one with all the reference types that you'll later want to use in your paper.
- In the Reference Editor on the Citation menu, click Citation style > Edit citation style.
- Click Create citation style.

In the list of components you can drag components to the rule set templates. For each reference type you can set which components should appear in the bibliography, in-text citations, and footnotes. The preview shows the results once the templates have been defined. Please note the rules of thumb for using components |
