Swiss Academic Software

Microsoft Certified Partner (ISV/Software Solutions)

Our History. The first version of Citavi was released in 1995 under the name LiteRat. In short order, LiteRat became one of the best-known reference management programs in the German-speaking world. In 2003, we started to develop LiteRat into a full-featured, global program: Citavi was born.

Our Mission. Citavi benefits from our ample experience with LiteRat and with research and development projects,
e-learning, and database programs. Above all, we believe Citavi benefits most from our mission: To make complex software as user-friendly and intuitive as possible.

What does "Citavi" mean?
In Latin Citavi means “I cited”, in Italian it means “you cited”, and lastly in Serbo-Croatian, it means “all encompassing, all, the totality”.
